The Cargo Incident Notification System (CINS) has won the prestigious Bureau International des Containers (BIC) 2017 BIC Award. Presented annually, the award honors an individual or organization for notable contributions to safety, security, standardization, or sustainability in containerized transportation.
CINS and the Container Owners Association have been working on the development of Guidelines for the Carriage of Cargoes in Non-Operating Reefers (NOR’s). The project has been sponsored by the TT Club.
Members will be aware that the CINS Technical Secretary is now producing monthly Cargo Incident Reports.

CINS and the International Group of P&I Clubs have issued revised joint industry guidance on the carriage of Calcium Hypochlorite by sea (first publication in May 2016) that now takes account of the package limit of 100 lb drums under US measurement as well as the previously stated package limit of 45kg net weight.
The CINS Cargo Guidelines Work Group has just completed a 2-day meeting in Hamburg this week. Hosted by Hapag-Lloyd, the meeting focused on the creation of future CINS Guidelines for the carriage of a number of specific cargoes where there have been industry-wide incidents in recent months.
